Both sides of my family have a long history, of sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, and embroidery. My paternal grandmother knitted, crocheted, and ran through rotary blades like mad as she made quilt after quilt. My maternal grandmother embroidered beautiful tablecloths, towels, and pillowcases. But it runs further back than that even, and I’m proud to carry on their traditions.
I started young, pulling the pins as my mother sewed clothes and costumes on a Kenmore machine that I eventually learned to sew on. Creating doll clothes from her scraps of fabric was just the beginning. Over the years, I’ve designed my own and recreated famous dresses, sewn countless Halloween and historical costumes, and made home décor from pillows to curtains and more. My special love is embroidery and blackwork specifically. Through Sew Expo classes, I’ve enjoyed learning about the different style of embroider from around the globe including various forms of sashiko, kantha, and Brazilian embroidery, as well as other fiber arts like crochet and needle felting.
When not toiling away in my craft room, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful husband and our two cats in our little corner of the Pacific Northwest. Other hobbies include plant-based cooking, running, reading, and writing.
