I want to foster a similar environment for people to learn and explore time-honored traditions crafted from needle, thread, and fabric. Whether you are new to fiber arts, or you have been doing them all your life, you’re welcome to join us here as we build a community of creators.
This is a safe space and place to ask those burning questions like how do I do no-knot embroidery? What is blackwork? How can I create my own patterns? What’s the best tool for that?

Blackwork Embroidery
Blackwork is a centuries old type of embroidery popular during the Tudor and Elizabethan courts and throughout Western Europe during this time period (1509-1603). While mostly done with black thread on white fabric, other colors were often used and elaborate geometric and nature themed designs were depicted. Artist and Tudor court painter Hans Holbein expertly captures this type of embroidery in his paintings, and the double running stitch is also called the Holbein stitch in his honor.
